Burgenland enacts regional public-service pay-transparency rules

15 October 2026 Partly in force Partly in force

Burgenland has enacted a Directive 2023/970 implementation for its Land and municipal public service, effective 1 October 2026.

What changed

Austria's tracker previously reflected federal procurement implementation and regional public-service measures in Lower Austria, Upper Austria and Styria. Burgenland's Bgld. GADG, LGBl. Nr. 68/2026, now adds a live regional salary-history restriction, accessible pay criteria, a two-month worker-information route with annual notice, pay-gap reporting and a 5% joint pay-assessment trigger for its covered public-service scope.

What it means for employers

Covered Burgenland public-service employers should treat the new regional duties as live from 1 October 2026 and align recruitment, pay-information, reporting-data and joint-pay-assessment controls accordingly. The law does not enact Austria's nationwide private-sector core Directive package, so the Burgenland rules must not be generalised nationally.
